Mathematics Position Available

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for a tenure track position in mathematics at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning August 2008. Qualifications for the position include an earned Ph.D. in mathematics, mathematics education, or a closely related field, and a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Candidates from all areas of mathematics are encouraged to apply, but preference will be given to applicants with the ability and dedication to provide leadership in mathematics education for secondary school teachers. Salary and benefits will be competitive.

Founded in 1842, The Citadel is a fully accredited, state-assisted, comprehensive, co-educational college with a faculty of 160 and a student body of 2000 undergraduate and 1500 evening and graduate students. The department has 16 full-time faculty members covering the areas of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. The department offers undergraduate degrees in mathematics and computer science; undergraduate minors in applied mathematics, applied statistics, computer programming, and management information systems; and masters degrees in mathematics education and computer science. Teaching responsibilities range from introductory courses for non-majors to senior-level courses for undergraduate mathematics majors. Opportunities to teach graduate-level courses for mathematics teachers are also available.
